Edgings, Motifs, Bracelet, Flowers, Giraffe, Doilies, Bookmarks, Pendants, Snowflakes and Quarter Moon

Jane likes the triangular part of this edging but thinks that over all, it's too floppy. Floppy edgings do bend nicely going around curves.

Elsa decided a photo contest on Facebook was a good excuse to tat this motif by Korean designer named Mi-Kyong Ha.

Melanie was working through the online tatting class project using 4 colours and although she's not happy with these colour blends she's planning on incorporating this edging into a bell design.

Grace made this bracelet for her mother for Mother's Day with size 70 cotton vintage thread using a design by Shannhob she purchased on Etsy. The pansy from a Priscilla book, is made with size 40 Lizbeth cotton in the centre and middle (purple colours) with glossy polyester cream on the edge, which was turned into a pin. The design for this bracelet is one she created with size 20 Lizbeth in rootbeer and ecru and glass beads painted gold. Another birthday gift for a 1st grade niece uses a pattern that is more simple and so tiny and cute. Her grandma made the white motif 20 plus years ago and Fox sent her the burgundy motif recently. Fox told her it was from the Blomqvist/Persson book, and she made her own in a multi size 40 Lizbeth. Gold Dust size 40 from Yarnplayer on Etsy, was used for the giraffe from Tatted Animals by Inga Madsen.

Diane was working as a sub and since she didn't need to plan anything, used the teacher's plan time to tat on her Spinning Wheel. The craft fair was a bust, but she got another Spinning Wheel started. This string of flowers helped to empty a shuttle and will get used on a crazy quilt she has in mind.

Eliz got the pattern for this doily from an old defunct Geocities web site, and not having any other reference for it she has been referring to it as the Geocities doily. Some gymnastics were required to keep the light coloured cloverleafs facing outward so that they landed between the motif on the outer round, but she was successful and the end result is a beautiful doily.

Fox after an interminable time on row 10, is now onto the next row and of course working with beads is just making everything that much slower.

Margaret was attempting to make the woven bookmark which Carollyn and Wendy did, but she forgot her picot gauge and what she has instead is a total mess. I personally loathe having to use a gauge, but sometimes it really is necessary.

Marie has another clip earring that needed an outfit to change it into a pendant. She added tatted fobs to some folding scissors to bling them up. She is calling this design "Dew Drop Brooch". This brooch was tatted with DMC embroidery floss.

Martha's Toy for Tatting book is out.

Muskaan has introduced a new project called This Way or Tat (TWoT) with a design called Dotted Snowflakes. Check it out.

Phyllis tested some tatting projects for Tat Days; the navy/gold and dark pink bracelet strips are from Martha Ess' Starry Bracelet class. The bear was tatted in size 10 (pattern called for size 10, but 10 was all she had on vacation to tat the project).  It is from Martha Ess' Technique Teddy Bear class.  The red/white star is Martha Ess' Broomstick Picot Star. The navy angel is a design by Kathy Hodge called Guardian Angel.

Wanda shows her projects from Palmetto's Tat Days, including Jane Eborall's Quarter Moon Class and Mimi Dillman’s Cluny Improvement Doily. After she got home she started another cluny doily, in two colours and both are now finished.

Edgings, Motifs, Doilies, Crosses and Snowflakes

Jane continues working the edgings from Teiko Fujito's book with these classic ring and chain designs.

Elsa has continued to combine needle lace and tatting and remembering a square motif she did earlier, she thought it would be a good candidate for this application. It looks like a winner to me.

Melanie thought of tatting a cover for a china bell, but this simple beaded edging is a perfect compliment.

Diane started her next Spinning Wheel in size 80 Lizbeth #607, Charcoal Med. She would have made more progress, but a computer problem took up her time, until it mysteriously fixed itself. She really likes this shade of gray, or should she say charcoal? After the soft gray she switched to size 80 Lizbeth #711, Bright Blue Dk, which she is appropriately tatting with a bright blue shuttle.

Marie tatted the "Heritage Cross," by Dee Powell. This cross can be found in  Tatted Bookmarks, by Handy Hands.  Another favourite cross is from Wendy Durell, called "Split Ring Cross" is quick and easy.

Muskaan worked on Eighteenth Day of December Snowflake by Lene Björn, but something wasn't quite what it should have been, which is why she has the original and a variation done in reverse colours.

Sue asked the recipient of this cross, what her favourite colour is, and the reply was; black and green. So Mary Konior's Small Cross, from her Tatting with Visual Patterns book, is tatted in Lizbeth size 40 Black and Yarnplayer's HDT Celery.

Hat, Bird, Motifs, Techniques, Doilies, Bracelet, Pendants, Crosses and Bookmarks

Batty Tatter has been working on hats again for the Christmas Farmers market. Jane Eborall's cute little robin has become a blue bird that she plans to put on a card.

Elsa did some more work on combining needlelace with tatting. Lace Renaissance of Thérèse de Dillmont gave her an idea for a woven centre, and combined with cluny tatting it gave a wonderful new centre to a basic medallion.

Diane took several classes at the Palmetto Tat Days and determined to take pictures just to prove it and chat with the various tables, which explains why she made joins in the wrong places and didn't get as far as some of the other students. Which just goes to prove you can tat, and you can talk, but tatting and talking together is challenging. The Interlaced Necklace kit was used to tech Nina Libin's class, and Nina as anyone knows who has seen her work, likes a little lace with her beads and makes the most astonishingly wonderful designs. Sandra worked in gold and black while Diane did hers in silver and blue. Diane finished this Spinning Wheel while at Palmetto Tat Days in size 80 Lizbeth #679, Lime Green. She immediately started another one in size 20 Lizbeth #710, Bright Blue Light, which seems huge after size 80.

Fox is making progress on row 10 of her doily, but with a doily this large every row seems to take forever.

Lilas tweaked part of an insertion pattern from the Priscilla Tatting book to create a bracelet in Gutterman silk thread and she has graciously shared the pattern on her blog.

Marie added tatting to this Opal cat to make a lovely pendant. She has tatted this bookmark using a pattern taken from the internet years ago but she doesn't know who designed it. This design is called "Shoestring Cross," by Teri Dusenbury.

Martha's beloved husband passed away on September 5th, our thoughts and prayers will be with her.

Muskaan has lots of WIPs, one of which needs this tiny tatted grape bunch below, but pics revealed bare thread so it needs re-tatting. Latest bookmark started is an extension of a dear friend's motif and this is how far she has reached.
